Composer and organist Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) shares some personal thoughts with organ-builder Olivier Glandaz. For more than twenty years, the composer entrust the latter with the task of maintaining his organ at Église de la Trinité. This one-of-a-kind document reveals how vitally important the organ, as an instrument and a repertoire, was to this great composer.
Olivier Glandaz learned the organ-building trade while in the reputable employ of Beuchet-Debierre. When Messiaen entrusted him with the task of maintaining his organ at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Paris in 1981, it marked the beginning of a long relationship based on trust and friendship. While still employed with the same firm, Glandaz has worked on the grandest organs of Paris.
